I found these giganto wood scissors at Michael's Craft Store and HAD TO HAVE THEM!!! I painted them to match my room and painted the "blades" twice before I got the right shade of silver.
I bought these two toile inspired pictures from a co-worker at her garage sale as they were the perfect color for my art room.
My little collection of pin cushions and I bought Heather Bailey's pattern booklet to make even more! I can't help it, there are so many cute things she has! Below, I sewed the curtains myself, a little idea I borrowed from a cute little shop in town, of mixing prints and used gingham, toile and a paisley mix. I added some decorative trim and I thought they came out so cute! I love the way they look when the sun is filtering in through them in the morning.
I decided to do what Nell Hill does, and hung a little picture board between my windows.....speaking of which we are getting new windows this Wednesday!!!! I am so very excited! Our house was built in 1942 and we still have the original windows....on the old rope and bar weight system. Some of you out there are scratching your heads saying WHAT IS SHE TALKING ABOUT???? That's right, because they are so ancient and made waaaaayyyyy before most of your time, you haven't even heard of it. Let's just say about 80% of them don't work, and I am so delighted we will have functioning windows! Right outside this view are where my peonies grow, and right now sweet peas, my all time favorite flower. It's a cozy little spot to be in our home. Nothing like listening to some Stacey Kent and humming away on my little machine.

Hi Nancy!
Love, love, love your craft/sewing room! While I love whites/neutrals/pastels, there is soemthing about red that I just adore! I even painted my dining room that color below my chair rail.
What I really love about you (I've noticed in other pics you've posted) is your ability to add a touch of whimsy to your spaces. Those giant scissors are the perfect touch for a sewing room!
Hope all is going well,
Val
Nancy---
Thanks for coming by my blog. I have been in this room many times and I know that many creative projects have come out of this room.
It is very cute!

Your sewing room is so neat and tidy. Mine always looks like a hurricane hit it. Too many piles of unfinished projects, or works in progress as I like to call them.
Love the scissors. And the beautiful draperies.
What a great sewing room. I love the colors and all of your things! Love your pincushions! I have a great frog one as well.
What a wonderful sewing space! Love those "big" scissors. I also love your colors. Great job!
What a beautiful sewing room..red is my favorite color so I love everything!
My hubby is putting in new windows in our 1922 home ~ I know exactly what you mean by weights in the windows and some not working! My husband is going to use some of the weights for fishing ~ recycle something old!
I collect pin cushions too..I just love them in all shapes but I have mostly tomatoes.
Have a great Sunday!

What a wonderful sewing nook! I am so jealous -- I don't have a place yet to keep my machines set up, so I sew much less than I did. Sad.
But you have inspired me to find a corner of That Old House and get it set up for sewing.
I know what you mean by old windows... but our weighted ones are the NEW ones here! (Windows are suppposed to open AND close?)

Your space is gorgeous! I really love the toile chair prints. I had the same windows growing up:-)
My gosh, your "art room" is a work of art! I love your draperies and your clever scissors! I wanted to tell you that I explained "KNOCKDOWN" on my blog so you'd know a little bit more about it and could decide if this is something that would work for your farmhouse. I love it and am very happy with the results so far!
XOXO

Love ,love your sewing room! First of all I adore anything red and white, or red and ivory!! I also love toile! I made a memory board like the one you have between your windows, and it is red and white toile, with a black frame. I have mine in the kitchen.
What a cozy place to sew :) Now I can picture you sewing a project.
Caitlin and Cyrous are becoming quite serious :) He is adorable, and they make quite a couple. He is transfering to U.C. Berkeley this fall,so he has about two more years to go. I do see them together long term, so I wouldn't be surprised if they do get engaged. They have been together for nine months.
Hi Nancy,
What a great sewing room and those scissors are the best ever!
You know I love red too,I adore your curtains.
I am using my kitchen table right now for all my sewing since the table is really long and is great for cutting out my fabric, but I have to clean up every day since my kitchen is so wide open.
I love, love your sewing/craft room.
Take care and enjoy your day,
Elizabeth
what a sweet place for crafting...love the little pin cushions!
