A Taste of Fall

There is nothing like planting something from seed, and watching a miracle happy before your eyes. Fall is one of my favorite seasons and I love pumpkins of any shape and size...the more the merrier! You can only imagine my excitement when I strolled down to our garden and realized I had not 1...not two...not three....but four pumpkins! Trixie seems to be more interested in a woodland creature off in the distance! Watching the colors start to change from deep green....now with a little yellow, and just when the timing is right a nice warm orange.

This is the King of the Crop, who is growing expeditiously ever time I go to check on him!

Some where hard to find, tucked in a little cozy spot just waiting to to grow and show their glory.

My Jack-be-little's haven't developed just yet, but there were many blossoms so I am hopeful.
Yesterday I had my first Pumpkin Spiced Latte of the season...it rained for a better part of the day here in Kansas. The gray skies and cooler temperatures had me day dreaming of fall (one official week away from today!) and all the splendor it offers. Antique shopping seems even more fun when you have a cozy sweater on...drives out in the country....looking over hearty soup recipes...the smell of firewood burning, and watching the leaves change on the trees. Heaven!

Can't wait for Fall to arrive! I wish my pumpkins grew, but had a bad crop this year. I even took the first day of fall off work to embrace the season and do fall type activities and decorating!

Hi Nancy. Looks like you did a little remodeling of your blog...me, too. This is my favorite season as well. Between the chilly snap in the air, the vibrant colors, the promise of snuggling in for the winter...I love it!

We only ended up with one and a half pumpkins this year. We planted "giant pumpkin" seeds, but so far, no giants. Oh well.

Oh happy day when you find a sweet little pumking growing! Last year instead of setting the pumpkins out with the trash, I dumped them in a garden area we no longer use because it was easier. Imagine my delight this summer when vines started growing, and huge yellow flowers appeared! Too bad only one small pumpkin was the result, but he's a cutie!

Hi Nancy,
Your pumpkins are doing great! Every year I say I am going to plant and I don't. It would be great fun to watch the pumpkins grow. I know my grandkids would love it. I will look forward to seeing your pumpkins turn a pretty orange...Post a pic..
Have a sweet day,Hug Elizabeth

How exciting to be growing your own pumpkins!
I love how they nestle into the vines to mature, they look so shy and cozy.
Beautiful!

Congratulations on your beautiful pumpkins! Hope they're orange by now :) We grew some this year (our second year) and most turned orange, but a couple are still green. Just a couple more weeks before Halloween, not sure if they'll make it in time!

Hi Nancy -- I'm back to ask how the pumpkins are doing? Orange yet? and the little guys? I love pumpkins and would love to grow my own next year. So you are my guru.
:-)
glad you enjoyed New England! Our part of NJ is much like it, believe it or not.

They look so cute and little when they are growing! We have friends who had a patch growing out in their horse pasture and the horses would nibble the little squash for snacks.

Springtime!

Spring has sprung and I am enjoying every little blossom and bird that comes my way! Have a beautiful day my friends!
