Somerset Ridge Winery

Sometimes when you are taking random drives like this...... You come across neat things like this.......
and just when you think it can't get any better.....you find a great little winery out on a lovely gravel country road, and you pinch yourself!

Somerset Ridge Vineyard & Winery is a great little winery with the nicest owners you could ever meet. They have an inviting tasting room, and make you feel like you've been friends for years as they take you through a sampling of all of their wonderful wines. Yes, I know.....some of you are questioning "What????Great wine in Kansas?????" YES!!! It is true. Even my well traveled best friend Cindy, who lives in California, who has a very good nose for fine wine, bought a case...YES A CASE of their Chardonel and had it shipped home!

Yes...it's true. We really do have culture here in the Midwest! MO actually produces some pretty fine wines as well...especially along the MO River. My sister-in-law manages Montelle Winery in Augusta, MO (outside of STL, east of Hermann). If you ever go that direction let me know and I'll be sure to hook you up with Julie (as long as we meet FIRST)!

Take care,
Val

What fun, Nanc!! Love that coffee sign, but I know I would love the winery. We went to the winery on the Biltmore estate and loved it. Their wines are delightful. I would love to go to a wine-making region and see all of the vineyards. To me there is just something very scenic and romantic about vineyards. So glad you had fun and found some new fave spots!

Have a wonderful day, BFF!!
Hugs,
Becky

Sounds like you had a great road trip taking in the scenery and grapes.

Do they have a website? I tried clicking on the name but there is no link attached.

The coffee sign is awesome too!

We've not been to that winery although we've been to several of the Missouri ones. Stone Hill's Norton has repeatedly taken top prizes. St. James Late Harvest Syvall is a favorite -- rivaling some of the expensive European ice wines.

Hi Nancy. I love your photos...they make me realize just how "pretty" it is out there. I know, lame word, but being that I'm on summer vacation, my "grown up" words are in a box, in the closet, in the classroom!

You asked about my book idea...well, it's going to be (Note how I said "going to be"? That's me being positive about it instead of afraid to try! I am such a baby!)...it's GOING to be a compilation of sorts. I'll be taking the ancient laptop on vacation with me next week and hopefully, no, ACTUALLY getting it all figured out. Then I may present it in the blogworld. I need to follow a friend's advice...step out in courage. That, and having faith. :)

Looks like you had an awesome drive and a wonderful time. So glad you did. I lOOOOOOOve that "coffee" sign on the building - I wouldn't mind havin' one of those myself. Blessings, Cathy
